Our Quality Management System is certified and managed under the guidelines of ISO9001:2008 + AS9100C. This Registration covers the Quality Management System for the manufacture, resell and distribution of metal and composite parts for aerospace applications. The privilege of earning this registration is not just the system at work; it is the attitude of its employees to live within the values the ISO system presents.
To meet the tight tolerances of today’s manufacturing environment, Quality Assurance must monitor every process each step of the way. Our Quality System mandates an initial review of all engineering documentation, the establishment of characteristic accountability, multiple process inspections, final and first article inspections and finally, an audit of all process documentation to ensure each customer quality and technical requirement is met.
In our 600-square-foot climate-controlled quality lab, our inspectors are surrounded by a variety of measuring equipment that includes:
- CCP Optical Comparator with 16″ screen, Edge Scan & Image Capture
- Sheffield Discovery II Direct Computer Control (DCC) Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) complete with upgraded Measure Max & CMM Manager Software Brown & Sharpe Reflex 454 CMM
- All necessary hand-held measuring devices with scheduled instrument inspections, traceable to National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST)
- 6’L x 4’W Certified Marble Surface plate
- Faro Edge ScanArm portable CMM
The Optical Comparator is a device that applies the principles of optics to the inspection of manufactured parts. In a comparator, the magnified silhouette of a part is projected upon the screen, and the dimensions and geometry of the part are measured against prescribed reference points.
The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is also a device used in manufacturing and assembly processes to test a part or assembly against the design intent. By precisely recording the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the target, points are generated that can then be analyzed via regression algorithms for the construction of features. These points are collected by using a probe that is positioned manually by an operator or automatically via Direct Computer Control (DCC). DCC CMMs can be programmed to repeatedly measure identical parts, thus a CMM is a specialized form of industrial robot.
The Faro Edge ScanArm is a portable CMM is used to perform inspections, dimensional checks, alignments, CAD-to-part analysis, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, 3D modeling and many more applications. The laser scanning head is a non-contact measurement system that allows the user to quickly digitize parts for model-based or point-to-cloud inspections. The Faro ScanArm provides portability, versatility, reliability and accuracy up to .0006″. Unmatched features and benefits have made Faro’s line of portable CMM’s the industry standard in Metrology.
